Founded in 1983, the Reliability Engineering Centre, now Subir Chowdhury School of Quality and Reliability (SCSQR), is located within the campus of IIT, Kharagpur. With an enrolment of 50 students, the school aims to improve the trinity of Process, Planet and People (3Ps) targeting Engineering, Human and Natural systems.

Our Students

The School is a truly interdisciplinary in which faculty members as well as students are from various disciplines. Apart from traditional Q&R areas, the students of the School have a holistic view on various application domains of 3Ps. The school moulds the students to improve the quality of life for the people of India and make them quality conscious global citizens.

Each student at SCSQR, undergoes well tested teaching pedagogy duly endorsed, assessed and accredited by the competent Government Institutions of India. The students intake and teacher – students ratio is better than the prescribed norms of the affiliating/ recognizing bodies. A majority of students have been well placed in organizations in India and abroad.

Through its academic, research and internship programme collaborations with number of overseas universities and industries, SCSQR provides the students with exposure, practical understanding and a platform for utilizing their talents in the area of Quality and Reliability.

Students at SCSQR are made industry ready with the help of its most distinguished faculty. Infrastructure is in tune with present requirement of the industry. With the help of computer labs, conference hall, seminar room, specialty labs and latest audio – visual equipment for classroom teaching, students are able to garner skills to take up most challenging roles in the industries in India, as well as abroad. The need based teaching makes the students result oriented and make them industry ready.
